Sacred Start

There was a time in my life when mornings felt like a sprint.
A race from bed to breakfast to inbox—often juggling my son and thoughts of my business racing before my feet hit the floor.
I longed for stillness.
For beauty.
For some sort of sacred beginning to mark the start of my day—but for years, I believed that kind of morning was reserved for people with more time, fewer responsibilities, or less mess.
And then I found Sacred Start—a morning ritual framework created by my dear friend and mentor, Sarah Jenks.
It wasn’t just a checklist.
It was an invitation.
To slow down.
To remember.
To make space for my self before making space for the world.
What is a Sacred Start?
At its heart, a Sacred Start is about devoting the first few minutes of your day to your soul.
It doesn’t require perfection.
You don’t need a two-hour meditation, a spotless altar, or total silence (though I’ll take it when I can get it!).
It’s about beginning with intention—choosing to root into who you are before diving into all that you do.
What My Sacred Start Looks Like
Most mornings, I light a candle before I turn on a single light.
I take a few deep breaths—enough to notice that I’m here.
Sometimes I draw a tarot card or write a few lines in my journal.
Sometimes I sit in silence.
Sometimes I cry.
Sometimes I dance.
It’s not about doing the same thing every day. It’s about showing up—as I am, not as I think I “should” be.
The tools from Sarah’s Sacred Start guide helped me see that my mornings didn’t need to be productive—they needed to be personal.
They needed to be a place of remembrance—of who I am beyond the to-do list, the roles, the urgency.
Why It Matters
Since weaving Sacred Start into my mornings, I’ve noticed a shift.
Not just in my mood, but in how I mother.
How I lead.
How I speak to myself.
I begin each day anchored—not in the noise of the world, but in the wisdom of my own heart.
And in a world that moves fast and demands more, that is a sacred rebellion.

Let it be messy.
Let it be yours.
Let it be sacred.
We rise differently when we begin in devotion.
With love,
